Double Spinning Balancer Editions Compared: Clear, Black Smoke, Marble, Cami and BODYTECH

Every Double Spinning Balancer edition is the same board underneath: professional-grade springs under each platform, a spin you can lock, three training modes and the same 500 lb rating. What changes is the look, the colour choices and the price: Clear and Marble are $499 CAD, while Black Smoke, Cami and BODYTECH are $529 CAD.

So the choice is less about training and more about who the board is for. Below is a plain side-by-side of all five editions, what each one really changes, who each one is not for, and when a different Bellenae board makes more sense than any of them. Prices and details are taken from the live product pages.

The Short Answer

  • Want the most colour choice: Clear, $499 CAD, 13 mat colours on a crystal-clear acrylic body.
  • Want a dark, bold board: Black Smoke (often searched as Smokey Black), $529 CAD, black acrylic body, 12 colour choices.
  • Want a softer-feeling, decorative mat: Marble, $499 CAD, a thicker marble-pattern mat in grey, pink, blue or black.
  • A fan of Cami or BODYTECH: the collaboration editions, $529 CAD each, with part of every sale going to the collaborator.
  • Every edition: resistance bands add $70 CAD, handmade to order in Ontario, ships in 3–9 business days.

All Five Editions at a Glance

Prices are in Canadian dollars, without and with the resistance bands add-on. The training side of the board does not change from one row to the next.

Clear $499 / $569 Crystal-clear acrylic 13 mat colours Matching a favourite colour
Black Smoke $529 / $599 Black acrylic 12 colours A bold look, teens
Marble $499 / $569 Crystal-clear acrylic 4 marble mats A thicker, cushioned mat

BODYTECH $529 / $599 Black acrylic, black branding None (one design) BODYTECH students

If you only read one line of this post, make it this one: no edition trains better than another. The $30 CAD gap between the two price groups pays for the black acrylic or the collaboration design, not for a different spring or a different spin. Pick the edition your dancer will be happiest to step onto every day, and the board will do the same work.

See the Bellenae Difference

The board in this video is the Black Smoke edition, and every edition trains exactly like it: professional-grade springs under each platform, a spin that locks, and three modes on one board. The original Clear edition is the place to start, with 13 mat colours to choose from.

What Every Edition Has in Common

Before the differences, the parts that are identical on all five product pages. These are the reasons to buy a Double Spinning Balancer at all, so if none of them matter to your dancer, skip to the section on who should buy a different board.

  • Two spring platforms on one base. Professional-grade springs under each platform give them movement in every direction, so feet, ankles and core keep correcting.
  • A lockable spin. Lock it and the board works like a standard double-foot spring board. Unlock it and the platforms rotate for turns, turnout and promenade work.
  • Three modes. Locked, unlocked, and flipped over, so both feet stand on the flat base with its non-slip mat for raised two-foot drills.
  • The same build. Acrylic, non-slip yoga-mat surfaces, rated up to 500 lbs, handmade to order in Ontario and shipped in 3–9 business days.
  • The same add-on. Resistance bands are an option on every edition, and they add the same $70 CAD each time.

If you want to see what the three modes look like in practice, our 15 spinning balance board drills run through locked, spinning and flipped work step by step. Every one of them works on every edition below.

Clear: The Original, With the Most Colours

Clear Double Spinning Balancer with light blue mats, gold springs and light blue resistance bands

The Clear edition with light blue mats and the resistance bands add-on.

The Clear Double Spinning Balancer is the standard model: a crystal-clear acrylic body, and the widest mat choice of any edition. The live option list shows 13 colours, from baby blue, cream and dusty pink to lime green, red, black and white. It is $499 CAD, or $569 CAD with resistance bands.

It is the easiest edition to personalise. If your dancer has a team colour, a studio colour or a favourite they have worn since they were six, this is the one that will most likely have it. The clear body also keeps the board looking light in a bedroom or a small living-room corner.

Who it is not for: a dancer who wants their board to look different from everyone else's at the studio. It is the standard model, so it is also the look other dancers are most likely to have. If standing out matters, look at Black Smoke or Marble.

Black Smoke (Smokey Black): The Bold One

Black Smoke Double Spinning Balancer with black mats, black acrylic and gold springs

Black Smoke with black mats. Only the gold springs break up the black.

Black Smoke is the Double Spinning Balancer in black acrylic. Bellenae's product page says the dark acrylic is the same grade and thickness as the clear version, so this is a change of look, not of strength. Many people search for it as the Smokey Black Double Spinning Balancer, and it is the board in the video above. It costs $529 CAD, or $599 CAD with bands.

There are 12 colour choices listed, from black on black to lilac, emerald green, ballet blue and red. A bright colour against the black body is a strong look, and it photographs well, which matters more to a teenager filming their turns than most parents expect.

Who it is not for: anyone shopping on price alone, since the Clear board does the same job for $30 CAD less. It is also a serious-looking board, and a younger dancer who loves pastels may be happier with Clear or Marble.

Marble: The Limited-Edition Mat

Marble Double Spinning Balancer with pink marble mats and a pink marble base, gold springs

The Marble edition in pink marble.

The Marble Double Spinning Balancer keeps the clear acrylic body and swaps the standard mat for a limited-edition marble-pattern mat. It comes in grey, pink, blue or black marble. It is the same price as Clear: $499 CAD, or $569 CAD with bands.

This is the one edition where the change is more than looks. Bellenae's product page describes the marble mat as thicker, with extra cushion and comfort, while keeping the same non-slip grip. For a dancer who trains barefoot and finds a thin mat hard on the feet, that is a real reason to choose it.

Who it is not for: a dancer who wants a bright, solid colour, since the marble mats come in four patterns only. And because it is described as a limited edition, a family planning to buy a matching second board later may not find the same mat available later.

Cami x Bellenae: Soft Sage and Sand

Close-up of a Cami edition board with sage-green springs, a light textured mat and the Cami name printed on the clear base

Close-up of a Cami edition board: sage-green springs and the Cami name on the clear base.

The Cami Double Spinning Balancer is Bellenae's collaboration with Cami. It is the full Double Spinning Balancer on clear acrylic, finished in Cami's greenish accent colours with collaboration branding. The colour options are sage, sand, or the two together in either order. It is $529 CAD, or $599 CAD with bands, and the product page says a portion of every sale goes directly to Cami.

For a dancer who follows Cami, this edition is the gift: the same training board, in a design with Cami's name on it. The muted sage and sand also suit a family who wants the board to sit quietly in a shared room rather than stand out.

Who it is not for: a dancer who does not know or care who Cami is. Then you are paying $30 CAD more than Clear for a name that means nothing to them, so let them pick a Clear colour instead.

BODYTECH x Bellenae: Black on Black

BODYTECH x Bellenae Double Spinning Balancer in black with BODYTECH branding on the base and a black resistance band

The BODYTECH edition in black acrylic, shown here with a resistance band.

The BODYTECH x Bellenae Double Spinning Balancer is the collaboration with BODYTECH, which the product page describes as one of the most in-demand dance trainers in competitive dance. It has a black acrylic body with BODYTECH's branding in black matte, and it comes in one design only. It is $529 CAD, or $599 CAD with bands, and a portion of every sale goes directly to BODYTECH.

There is no colour to choose, which makes it the simplest gift on this list. You only decide whether to add the resistance bands.

Who it is not for: a dancer who wants colour of any kind, or one who has never trained with BODYTECH and has no attachment to the name. For an all-black look with a colour choice, Black Smoke at the same price gives you 12 options.

Which Edition to Choose: A Gift-Giver's Decision

Most people reading this are buying for someone else, often as a holiday gift. These are the questions that settle it fastest.

  • If you know their favourite colour → Clear, and pick that mat. It has the most choice.
  • If they are a teen who films their training → Black Smoke. The dark body and a bright mat look sharp on camera.
  • If they train barefoot or have sensitive feet → Marble, for the thicker, cushioned mat.
  • If they follow Cami or train with BODYTECH → the matching collaboration edition. It is the one they will notice.
  • If you truly cannot decide → Black Smoke in black, or Clear in white or cream. Neutral colours are hard to get wrong.

Two practical notes for holiday timing. Every edition is handmade to order and ships in 3–9 business days, so give yourself room before the date you need it. And if you are adding resistance bands, add them now: it is the same $70 CAD on every edition, and it adds band work to every mode without buying anything else later.

The Perfect Training Gift

Black Smoke is the Double Spinning Balancer in black acrylic, with 12 colour choices and the same springs, spin and three modes as every edition. A strong pick for a teen who trains seriously and likes a bold look. If price decides it, Clear does the same work for $30 CAD less.

Who Should Buy a Different Bellenae Board Instead

The Double Spinning Balancer is not the right first board for everyone. Bellenae describes it as a board for intermediate to advanced dancers, and it is the most demanding board in the range. Here is when another board is the better buy, whichever edition you had in mind.

  • A younger or newer dancer, or anyone who does not need turns. The Bellenae Balancer is the two-foot spring board without the spin, from $329 CAD. Our Balancer vs Mini comparison helps choose between it and the smaller board.
  • A dancer working on single-foot turns. The Single Spinning Balancer is one platform with a lockable spin, from $319 CAD. It is built for passé holds and single-foot pirouette work, and it is a step up, not a starter.
  • Only spinning, with no springs. A flat spinning board is the simpler tool for practising spotting and turn counts. The difference is laid out in turn board vs spinning board vs spinning balance board.
  • You love the Black Smoke, Cami or BODYTECH look but the dancer does not need the spin. Each of those designs also exists as a Double Balancer without the spinning mechanism, from $359 CAD, in the Bellenae balance boards collection.

The Bottom Line

All five Double Spinning Balancer editions train the same way. Clear and Marble are $499 CAD; Black Smoke, Cami and BODYTECH are $529 CAD. Choose Clear for colour, Black Smoke for a bold look, Marble for a thicker mat, and Cami or BODYTECH when the name on the board means something to the dancer. If the dancer is new, young, or does not need turns, a board without the spin will serve them better for now. Whichever edition you choose, it is the same board. Handcrafted in Canada by five sisters who danced their entire lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Double Spinning Balancer edition should I buy?

All five editions train the same way, so choose on looks, colour and who the board is for. Clear ($499 CAD) has the most choice, with 13 mat colours. Black Smoke ($529 CAD) has a black acrylic body and 12 colour choices. Marble ($499 CAD) adds a thicker, cushioned marble-pattern mat. Cami and BODYTECH ($529 CAD each) are collaboration designs, and part of every sale goes to the collaborator. If you are unsure, a neutral colour on Clear or Black Smoke is hard to get wrong.

Is the Smokey Black Double Spinning Balancer the same as Black Smoke?

Yes. Bellenae's product is called the Black Smoke Double Spinning Balancer, and many people search for it as Smokey Black. It is the full Double Spinning Balancer in black acrylic, which the product page says is the same grade and thickness as the clear version. It has the same professional-grade springs under each platform, lockable spin and three training modes as every other edition. It costs $529 CAD, or $599 CAD with the resistance bands add-on, and there are 12 colour choices.

Do the editions train differently?

No. Every edition has two spring platforms on one base with professional-grade springs under each platform, a spin you can lock, and the same three modes: locked for balance, unlocked for turns and turnout, and flipped for raised two-foot drills. All are rated up to 500 lbs. The only edition with a change you can feel is Marble, whose mat Bellenae describes as thicker, with extra cushion and the same non-slip grip. The rest of the differences are colour, body finish and collaboration branding.

Is a Double Spinning Balancer good for a beginner or a young child?

Bellenae describes the Double Spinning Balancer as a board for intermediate to advanced dancers, and it is the most demanding board in the range. A younger or newer dancer usually does better on the Bellenae Balancer, the two-foot spring board without the spin, or on the smaller Mini. If you do buy a Double for a younger dancer to grow into, keep the spin locked for the first few weeks, stay in the room, and keep a barre or counter within reach.

Are the resistance bands worth adding?

The resistance bands are an add-on on every edition, and they cost the same $70 CAD extra each time: $499 becomes $569 CAD on Clear and Marble, and $529 becomes $599 CAD on Black Smoke, Cami and BODYTECH. They add band work to the locked, spinning and flipped modes. If the board is a gift and you want it to feel complete on the day it arrives, adding the bands at the start is simpler than buying them separately later.

How long does a Double Spinning Balancer take to arrive?

Every edition is handmade to order in Ontario, Canada, and the product pages say it ships in 3 to 9 business days. Delivery time after that depends on where you live. If the board is a holiday or birthday gift, order with a comfortable margin before the date, especially in November and December. Shipping cost is calculated at checkout on the product page, so check it there for your address before you order.
