Frequently Asked Questions
Which board is right for my dancer?
If your dancer is just starting out or is under 12, the Bellenae Mini is the best place to begin. It's a single-foot board that builds foundational balance, ankle strength, and proprioception. For more experienced dancers who want a versatile full-body trainer, the Bellenae Balancer is our most popular board — it's reversible and works for everything from passé holds to planks. If your dancer needs pirouette or turn training, the Spinning Balancer adds a rotation mechanism that can be locked when not in use. And if you want the complete training system, the Double Spinning Balancer does everything.
What age is appropriate?
Our boards are suitable for dancers and athletes ages 7 and up. Younger athletes should always be supervised when first learning to use the board. Many of our customers are competitive dancers between the ages of 8 and 18, but adults use them too — including us.
What makes Bellenae different from cheap balance boards on Amazon?
Most balance boards you'll find for $10–$30 online are simple wobble boards or plastic turning discs. A Bellenae board uses a medical-grade spring encased between two 3/4" acrylic platforms with a non-skid surface. The spring creates dynamic, responsive instability — it reacts to your body in real time and challenges your stabilizer muscles in ways a static wobble board simply cannot. Our boards are handmade in Canada, built to last, and designed specifically for dancers, skaters, and gymnasts by people who actually train in those sports.
Can this be used on carpet?
Yes. Bellenae boards work on both hard floors and carpet. On hard floors, the board will feel slightly more challenging because there's less friction beneath it. On carpet, it's a bit more stable, which can actually be great for beginners still building confidence. We recommend starting on carpet if your dancer is new to balance training.
What is the weight limit?
Our boards are designed to support the weight of both youth and adult athletes. The medical-grade springs and 3/4" acrylic construction are built for durability. Adults regularly train on our boards without any issues.
Can figure skaters and gymnasts use these, or is it just for dancers?
Our boards are used by figure skaters, gymnasts, cheerleaders, and general fitness athletes — not just dancers. Figure skaters especially benefit from the Spinning Balancer, which allows off-ice spin training. Gymnasts use the boards for balance beam preparation, landing stability, and core work. Cheerleaders use them for flyer balance and stunt preparation. If your sport requires balance, core strength, or proprioception, a Bellenae board will help.
What's the difference between the 10" and 12" Mini?
The 10" Mini has a smaller platform, which makes it more challenging and is great for focused single-foot balance work. The 12" Mini offers a slightly larger surface area, which gives a bit more room for foot placement and is often preferred by dancers with larger feet or those who want a touch more stability while still getting a serious balance challenge. Both use the same medical-grade spring.
What are the resistance bands for?
Some of our boards come with an optional resistance band add-on. The bands attach to the board and allow you to add upper body and lower body resistance exercises to your balance training — for example, doing relevé holds while pulling resistance bands, or adding arm work during squats on the board. They're a great way to get a full-body workout from a single piece of equipment.
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes, we ship across Canada and to the United States. Shipping times and rates are calculated at checkout based on your location. Canadian orders typically arrive within 5–10 business days.
What is your return policy?
We want you to love your Bellenae board. Please visit our Return Policy page for full details on returns and exchanges.
Can I customize my board color?
Yes! Most of our boards are available in a range of colours including cream, dusty pink, baby blue, lilac, black, white, teal, magenta pink, peach, red, and royal blue. We also offer a custom colour option on select products — reach out to us on Instagram @bellenae or email us to discuss custom orders.
How do I take care of my board?
Wipe the non-skid surface with a damp cloth after use. Avoid leaving the board in direct sunlight for extended periods, as acrylic can be sensitive to prolonged UV exposure. Store it flat or on its side in a cool, dry space. The springs do not require maintenance.
I'm a studio owner. Do you offer bulk or wholesale pricing?
We love working with studios. If you're interested in purchasing multiple boards for your studio or team, please reach out to us directly through Instagram @bellenae or email us. We're happy to discuss options for studios, dance schools, and skating clubs.
